I agree with this. Excellent article and very interesting. I would like to see even more examples. There were some excellent comparison to European countries but then there could be more exact comparisons to what we are doing.

We in Maine are have a proposal to use offshore wind to power a passenger rail service connecting our 2 largest cities. It is a hard concept since folks in the oil gas and road paving industries are formidable foes, but we are starting to turn some heads.

And Alan does a good job showing why using natural gas to generate electricity to power railroads makes a lot more sense than T. Boone Pickens' proposal for the government to buy natural gas engines at $65,000 apiece for inter -city truckers.
